Turned round !!!!!

Tuesday 25th September  was still raining and windy so we stayed at our mooring at new Islington http://www.urbansplash.co.uk/documents/MarinaBrochure.pdf
the weather was going to ok Wednesday so we headed off down the Rochdale 9 lock  we met up with NB Rufus who came down the 9 locks with us when down at the bottom we moored up at Castlefields basin nice mooring ,  then i looked on the web and saw some photos of a breach in a canal  in fact it was on the Trent and Mersey canal  and we were heading that way
http://youtu.be/UhgJgx8MoFY  this shows you how big the breach is
if you would like to donate to fix it follow the link

So seeing this we made our mind up to turn round , we but out a plea for help doing the lock and Ray Butler came to our help ,
That evening we went over to the Manchester Velodrome as The British Senior National Track Championships and it was free

Thursday morning we left Castlefield 7.45 and started up the Rochdale 9 lock

we went the lock in just under 2 hours and then went up the Ashton 18 locks
next to lock there was this window cleaner just hanging about

after a good day we got to Portland basin  the junction of the Ashton and Peak forest  i think that was the longest day we done for a long time  in total we did 8 mile and 27 locks and we would like to Thank Ray once again for helping us  if you see him on NB Owl give him a wave

on Friday we set of after the rain had stopped about 9 am and heading for Marple and the 16 locks
on the way we saw this hire boat moored up not quite the right way

cyclist beware !!!!!

we done the locks and heading for High lane

on our way we saw this bird not sure might be a owl

once at High lane we moored up the next day the coal boat Alton was due so we restocked with some coal

 what is missing ??

  1. Looks like you had a great time. The bird was a Kestrel, but very light in colour.
Love the photo of Alton without her steerer lol.

    Happy Cruising. x
