Hi All
And thank you all for reading our blog and saying hello along the cut even if it just a quick wave and a shout hello

At the moment we are heading for Langley mill up the Erewash canal were we will leave the boat in peters good hands while we go to the wrg Easter camp on the Chesterfield canal

So what we been up to since last blog
Well I fitted some new batteries I got from Norbury wharf and then we heading down the shroppie we were going to go down into Birmingham but as we did not leave Ellesmere early we do not have enough  time, hope to be back around there end of summer
Our son Chris came to see us and bring our post he is doing well we met him at Cross Green
We heading off along the Staffs & Worcs this is quite a nice canal and go thorough some lovely countryside and with this lovely weather we are having right now you can see spring happening in front of your eyes
We stopped one night at a place called Tixall wide and there is a lovely gate house on the hill here
and then we watched the sun set through the trees

Next we headed down the Trent and Mersey canal,
Just after Rugeley there is a house that keep bird of pray and this time one of them was out

not sure what it is

 Tina auntie and uncle have also got a boat and we had not seen them yet so we got hold of them and found out there were going back to the boat builder of the Birmingham and Fazeley canal and as we had a couple of day spare we went to find them

we had a lovely day with them and went to pub for a meal thanks

the next day we headed of the Erewash canal  and getting ready for WRG Easter camp on the way we stopped at Alrewas and went to the The National Memorial Arboretum http://www.thenma.org.uk/
we been here before but only saw a small part of this we had a good walk round and it is only about a 15 min walk from the canal








the next day we headed off to Burton upon Trent  on the way saw this lovely painting on a garden shed
looks real
today Tina was steering the boat when she shouted quick look at the size of this egg so i quickly got the camera and took a photo

(it was a small football)

well we are at sawley cut tonight and going to go up the Erewash tomorrow up to Langley mill then wrg Easter camp so we will post after camp

Kingfisher

Wednesday 29th Feb saw us leave the Llangollen canal after spending the winter on it , we moored up at Nantwich just passed NB Blackberry way  our friends peter and heather Underwood was good to catch up with them not seen them since Braunson in the summer so we had a good chat over cup of tea and other chat in the morning over coffee before we both moved on

Thursday we move to audlem locks ready to do the 13 lock on Friday
we moored at bottom lock of Adderley lock ready to do another 5 lock in the morning
there is a nice church at Adderley the window are grade one listed come from Ironbrigde




they must have come to church on horse

Saturday we heading to Market Drayton which is nice we stayed there on Sunday as it was windy and wet
Monday was a better day so we set off for Norbury wharf,
we stopped overnight Gold stone wharf saw this bird and could not work out what breed it was

and was watching this wagtail robbing a spiders web

Tuesday  was a lovely day started out with mist then sun nice we had 8 mile to go before Norbury going through some cutting and lovely countryside  going through Grub cutting we saw this man doing some boat painting
yes he is in a box on the water



Wednesday we went up to norbury wharf and got 4 new batteries and fuel and filters for another engine service  Simon and David at Norbury are very helpful  http://www.norburywharfltd.co.uk/
Thursday we stayed at norbury did a few little job and in afternoon went for a walk to see if i could find any more of the Newport branch canal which closed in 1944 and i did

we left Norbury on Friday  the weather was OK  on our way i was able to take a photo of a kingfisher
